Prep-to-Play workshops at your club

Designed by the AFL and La Trobe University, Prep-to-Play is an injury prevention program.
Our education and practical training workshops will equip coaches/players/club personnel with the confidence and skills to use Prep-to-Play.
WHY USE PREP-TO-PLAY?
Warm-up and strength exercises and are used across many sports (e.g. soccer Perform+, netball KNEE program, rugby Activate, basketball/hockey/volleyball: SHRED injuries programs) and can reduce lower and upper limb injuries by up to 40-60%, when used for at least 10 minutes, twice weekly, throughout the season.
WHAT?
Prep-to-Play is an Australian Football specific program for elite (Prep-to-Play PRO) and community players, co-designed by La Trobe University with the AFL, coaches, players, and health/medical experts across the world. It is effective in women and U16-U18 girls, and similar programs are effective (Footy First) in men’s/boys’ Australian Football.
- SWITCH ON – the 10-minute Prep-to-Play warm up — handball races, balance, running, agility, jumping, landing, and contact activities.
- BE CONTACT READY with the Prep-to-Play contact skills —practice safe technique and execution of tackling, being tackled, ground ball and aerial contests.
- STRENGTH OVER STRETCH — complete the three Prep-to-Play strength activities (no equipment required) instead of static stretching or a cool down lap at the end of training.

Participating teams receive Prep-to-Play manuals, posters and training cards.
Run by Prep-to-Play facilitators trained by the La Trobe University team, they are injury prevention researchers, with experience as physiotherapists, players, and/or coaches in community or elite football.
Get at least 10 coaches along to the workshop = less than $5 investment per player
